Trail Names

At some point during this hike my name will change. That's to be expected. One of the many traditions on the PCT is adopting a trail name that one carries for the duration of the hike and often to future hikes. Trail names can be given by others or chosen by the individual. Sometimes they reflect the character of the holder and other times they commemorate a funny incident. I've heard that it's not uncommon for a group of hikers to travel the entire trail without knowing each others' real names. My co-workers have taken to calling me Dora the Explorer so hopefully I can replace that quickly....
