Etna to Oregon!

California was a great time but after 3 months it was good to be in a new state. This post has the last 100 miles of California and a tiny bit of Oregon. This section was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, my last few days in California were smoky because of some serious wildfires in Southwest Oregon. As of this writing those fires are still largely uncontained but they aren't a direct threat to the trail yet. I'm off the trail for a family wedding for a few days, then it'll be a sprint to the finish line 935 miles away.

Seiad Valley Cafe's 5lb of pancakes challenge. He didn't finish.

The beautiful Marble Moutains

The smoke started appearing

This is Paradise Lake. Apparently, this was Teddy Roosevelt's favorite fishing lake. Smoky haze up beyond.

The good thing about the 6mi road walk into Seiad Valley - fresh berries!

Burn area with yet more smoke.

Creepy nuclear winterish sunset

Look at the two extra extensions they put on this gate. My favorite is the 2ft little one on the very end.

How many animal prints can you see in this dirt?

If you just imagine this smoke is fog, it looks very Oregonesque

Such a good feeling
