Hiker Heaven to Tehachapi

It was hard to leave the Saufley's Hiker Heaven but the Anderson's Casa de Luna was a short 24 miles away and that was an equally amazing experience. Taco salad for 60 and lots of beer. Mrs. Anderson is a saint. Then it was onward and back to the daily grind of the trail. The scenery improved and shortly I landed at the Hikertown Hostel. Interesting place, it was modelled after an old Western town. I stayed a night there and spent the next 2 days fighting through the strongest winds I've ever experienced. No wonder there were wind turbines all around me. The clouds were dramatic and the scenery was awesome.

Taco salad for all!

This is how bright the full moon is in the desert. Photo taken around 11pm. Night hiking is a great way to carry less water and avoid the heat of the day.

500 miles!

Trail magic! Hot dogs, beer, and fruit!

Hikertown Hostel - some of those buildings are rooms for rent; some are facades.

Just some bones and wind turbines, average day.

This was the start of 50 miles of wind. There were magnificent clouds the entire time and I snapped lots of photos.
